The Army Corps of Engineers have completed a conceptual plan for the C&D canal and they the public will be able to review the plans at two open houses.
If you want to get a preview you can wade through the very large PDF’s on the Army Corps website: http://www.nap.usace.army.mil/Projects/CD/index.htm
The concept is to upgrade the existing service roads to 15′ paved or stone dust. The project will be built in 3 phases:
Phase 1 is the north side, Phase 2 is the South Side and Phase 3 is in the vicinity of the Reedy Point Bridge.
North Side will be stone dust from Delaware City to St. Georges, paved from St. Georges to the Marina then stone dust to just beyond the Summit Bridge and paved again to North Chesapeake City.
