    Note that DelDOT’s design puts cyclists at the most risk, bikes are nearly invisible with the speeding traffic, large buses and lack of pavement markings. The Delaware Bicycle Council’s strategy is to give bikes as much visibility as possible within the constraints of the project. Bike Delaware’s goal is to bring the speeds down by narrowing the lanes and offering enough room for a dedicated bike lane.

    The two Bike Delaware proposals grapple with the conflict of right turning vehicles, the MUTCD forbids bike lanes positioned to the right of a right turn lane, the right hook scenario was responsible for at least one death and one permanently disabling injury last year.
