DelDOT has critical role in helping to build walkable, bikeable, healthy, resilient and beautiful communities

A consortium of six civic groups, including Bike Delaware, delivered a joint letter to Governor Markell on Friday March 18, asking him to appoint a new DelDOT Secretary who will use all of his or her influence to encourage better land use decisions in Delaware. The groups also advocated for re-directing state government investment away from subsidizing sprawl, and instead towards investments in fixed route transit, walking and bicycling.

Bike Delaware, the Civic League For New Castle County, Delaware Greenways, the Delaware Nature Society, the League of Women Voters of Delaware and the Milltown-Limestone Civic Alliance asked Governor Markell to appoint a DelDOT Secretary who will encourage sustainable patterns of development which are good for Delawareans and affordable to State government.
