Construction of the Pomeroy Trail has now begun at the north end. This portion, known by locals as “Bubble Gum Rock”, is being lowered to grade level at Creek Road. At this point, the trail will continue as shared with automobiles for approximately 1 mile before crossing the White Clay Creek and continuing north directly on the abandoned rail bed.

It appears a large number of trees were removed to accommodate this trail. If this is the case, why? As an avid mountain biker and daily bike commuter, I am 1,000% for improvements for bike commuting. But not at the unnecessary expense of trees which could have been spared if more thoughtful planning had taken place.
