Seven  riders participated in WCBC’s Saturday (11/5) ride to Green Lane on the Perkiomen Rail Trail in Montgomery County, PA. As an added treat we took a five-mile loop through the woods on well-paved roads just prior to lunch at Chiaro’s Ristorante Italiano in Green Lane. The scenery was great as was the food. The turkey hoagie on a crisp roll was excellent. Debbie Wilson enjoyed her lasagna with salad and bread. Unfortunately the lasagna was so large that she was not quite able to finish it all.

A view of the well-maintained trail.

The 19-mile Perkiomen Trail runs through the Perkiomen Creek Valley from its junction with the Schuylkill River Trail at Oaks, Upper Providence Township to the largest County Park, Green Lane Park. Most of the trail is a 10-foot wide cinder or stone aggregate (non-paved) surface with grass shoulders. Selected sections are paved where deemed appropriate.

Fortunately the remaining snow was not too deep!
