Cyclocross Magazine – LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY – The course continued to soften for the next race of the day; the Women 40-44 final. Catherine Moore would take the holeshot, and lead the women out on course as the group jockeyed for position. There were a couple of near misses as they raced on to the soft mud from the pavement, as the need for raw power was replaced by bike handling. By the time the group made it to the flyover, Katrina Dowdichuk (USA) had assumed the lead with Kim Flynn (USA) chasing. Margell Abel (USA) sat comfortably in third.
Through the pits for the second time on the first lap, both leaders took fresh bikes and looked to be very evenly matched as the lead was traded constantly as they made their way around the slippery course. [Continue reading…]
