UPCOMING EVENTS IN APRIL –
Basic Mechanic Class
Sunday, April 15th / Sunday, April 22nd / Sunday, April 29th @ 1p – 3p
Location: NBP (318 S College Ave)
Description: For riders who wish to formally learn the skills of a bike mechanic the Newark Bike Project is offering a Basic Maintenance Class this April at their temp shop location in Newark! A skilled mechanic will walk you through the steps of how to identify a problem with your bikes, the tools necessary to repair it, and how to preform the maintenance. Hands on training is a curtail part of this workshop, so be ready to get your hands dirty! Details are below:
* 1 – 3 pm on Sunday, April 15th: Identifying tools, parts of the bike, patching flats
* 1 – 3 pm on Sunday, April 22nd: Cables and Brakes
* 1 – 3 pm on Sunday, April 29th: Cranks and Bearings
$15 for each class or $40 for all three! Shop bikes will be used for demonstration and training during the class. If you wish to preform some maintenance on your own bike, feel free to bring it to class and there will mechanics available afterwards to assist you.

NCCL Kids Greenfest
Saturday, April 21st @ 10a – 3p.
Location: 401 Phillips Avenue.
Description: Journey down the path for a greener future! Kids and families are invited to try hands-on activities to learn about green technology, energy alternatives, wildlife, food and conservation. Kid-led exhibits as well as sustainability experts will share practical, easy methods for changes everyone can make. NBP will be available to talk about biking in Newark as well as teach kids how to pump up their tires and demonstrate how to fix a flat. UD Earth Day: Fitness on the Green

Location: UD Green
Description: Enjoy 3 hour-long sessions of yoga on the green, sponsored by the Yoga Club! NBP will also be available to talk about the health benefits of biking and how to do so safely and sustainably in Newark. UD Earth Day: Clothing Swap & Concert

Location: Trabant Patio
Description: Every year, the average American discards 68 lbs. of clothing. To minimize the astronomical growth of our planet’s landfills, the Sustainability Task Force is holding a clothing and accessory swap. Bring your gently used apparel and accessories to the Trabant Patio and swap it for something “new”! Learn to embody the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle mentality on a simple daily level. NBP will also be present with recycled bicycles for sale!
