I wish this small “stress point” in an otherwise great ride could be fixed quickly

This ride would be OK if there was a better option for this part of it.

This ride would be OK if there was a better option for this part of it.

Big cycling improvement projects – like the Wilmington-New Castle Greenway or the Lewes-Georgetown Trail – take years to build. But small projects that address “stress points” (a short section of an otherwise decent route that makes even “avid” cyclist nervous) can happen more quickly.

Do you have a short “stress point” in your ride that you wish could be fixed? Do you have an idea on how it could be fixed? Please let us know in the form below!

The first public meeting on the Delaware Bicycle Plan (and the only one that will take place in Sussex County!) is on Wednesday in Georgetown (stop by anytime between 4 and 7PM). The creation of the Delaware Bicycle Plan is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to plan bicycle improvements for our communities. Even a small “stress point” project starts its life as a line on a map in an official plan. The last Delaware Bicycle Plan was in 2005 so if we miss this opportunity the next opportunity might not come around until 2027! Or even later.  And bring your friends and neighbors! If there’s a part of your ride that makes you uncomfortable, then it must make others uncomfortable too.

We like to complain about government. But we can’t complain about government if we don’t first give bureaucrats a chance by letting them know where the problems are and then giving them a chance to fix them before we complain!

Stressful section of road I don't like to ride on ("stress point").

Being as specific as possible (i.e. describing where a line on a map would go), describe a possible alternative route or infrastructure that would fix this stress point for cyclists.
