Amish Country Bike Tour October 10, 2026

Making cycling and walking safe, convenient and fun in Delaware

Join us for the rescheduled 40th Annual

Amish Country Bike Tour, AKA the #rideforpie

“We love this event! It’s not like any other rides we participate in….it’s different!”

Everyone previously registered for September 19th received an email January 24th or 25th with options for the new-new date and the deadline to take action.

We ride again, rain or shine!

7:00 am – 5:00 pm

410 Legislative Ave

All registration and merchandise confirmations are automatically generated via email as soon as you hit the purchase button! You must ensure that Info@bikede.org are trusted senders in your email settings to continue to receive important information and updates. Nothing will be mailed. Rider Pickup is planned for Friday 4-7:30 pm and Saturday starting at 6 am on Legislative Mall under the green & white striped tent.

General information:

Routes begin and end on Legislative Mall, 410 Legislative Ave., Dover, DE and are 16, 25, 50, 62 or 100 miles through peaceful, flat(!), Amish countryside.

To promote safety and to ensure that rest stops are not overwhelmed, with everyone finishing when the food and entertainment will be starting, a staggered start with police escort for each group will take place to send you on your way. Riders are expected to be ready to ride with your group:

Routes will be marked with colored arrows. All routes will follow the white markings heading out of Dover. Colors will appear as the routes deviate from one another around Apple Grove School Road on Allabands Road:

7 am Departure – 100 miles, follow the white arrows

7:30 am Departure – 62 miles, follow the red arrows

8 am Departure – 50 miles, follow the green arrows

8:30 am Departure – 25 miles, follow the blue arrows

9 am Departure – 16 miles, follow the yellow arrows

Motor vehicles are not restricted on the routes of the Amish Country Bike Tour. Follow all rules of the road. Obey traffic signals and signs. Never cross a yellow line, not even to pass. This is a ride not a race. See the 2025 information sheet for riders here. This sheet will be updated in September 2026. It is recommended that you print or have a copy of the 2026 version saved to help you through your day!

Everyone stops at the Amish School House on Rose Valley Road for pie. It’s the only rest stop where all routes will travel. Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will be closing the road to traffic off of Route 8 to the north, just as they have done in previous year’s. Thru traffic (Bike Support, our volunteers, photographers, deliveries) will only be able to access the area via Hazlettville Road to the south.

Bike Traffic will enter off Yoder and make a right onto Rose Valley. The schoolhouse will be on the right and cyclists should exit off the road onto the property. Do not drop your bike where you stop. There will be parking areas designated for that purpose. The map outlining bicycle traffic makes ingress and egress for cyclists much easier. Please familiarize yourself with it and follow the path laid out for you.

New tools for 2025 included free TraQCentral access, Free RideWithGPS access and color coded route markings. 2026 registered riders will receive invitations and information via email throughout the year and again in August & September. Check your inbox for invitations and links. Check Spam. We cannot help you if your email provider blocks our updates.

2025 Routes are available via these links, but we do recommend riders RSVP to the 2026 link which will be sent via email for access to the free RideWithGPS account and real time updates.

Following the bike tour, everyone returns to Legislative Mall for your catered lunch (included in your ride purchase) from one of our food truck partners and non-alcoholic beverages, adult beverages (with purchased tickets), entertainment with Glass Onion, DJ, merchandise sales and a variety of vendors. All the extra fun (except your piece of pie and ride) is held on Legislative Mall (410 Legislative Ave) in historic downtown Dover, Delaware. Most vendors will accept credit/debit cards and cash.

The greater Dover area offers a number of accommodation and dining options. Delaware isn’t very big, but that doesn’t mean you will want to stay too far outside of the Dover area. There are several bikeable hotels in the area. We recommend contacting Kent County Tourism for the best information. Both have been generous sponsors this year. Tourism has compiled a searchable resource for visitors available on their website.  If you limit your search to Dover, you’ll be in the right area to get to the start point before your group start time.

Keep in mind that the event and ride support will close at 5 pm.

The Amish Country Bike Tour is a rain-or-shine, non-refundable event. There is no rain date.

In case of severe weather or restrictions mandated by local, state or federal government, Bike Delaware volunteers reserve the right to cancel/alter/modify the tour for safety and other concerns.  In any event, we do not refund tour entry or transfer registrations to the following year.  In the unlikely case a tour is canceled, you may claim your registration fee as a tax-deductible donation.

Unfortunately, all expenses have already been incurred prior to the actual event. Should we be forced to cancel or offer deferrals, the financial impact of the event would not be any different than if the event was held in its entirety. Thus, refunding or deferring any entry fees would devastate the financial future of the Amish Country Bike Tour. Adult rider may self-transfer their rides to another rider of their choice . Bike Reg does not permit self transfer of discounted (team) rides. All other transfers must be made via the registrar. Proof of identity may be required to ride.

The Amish Country Bike Tour is managed by Bike Delaware volunteers.  Bike Delaware is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that advocates for safe, convenient and fun cycling and walking for everyone.  All funds raised from the Amish Country Bike Tour support Bike Delaware’s mission and vision, as well as our community supporting organizations.
