A new flashing beacon is under construction at the Lewes-to-Georgetown Trail crossing on Sweetbriar Road west of Lewes. DelDot is implementing a pilot program that will use state-of-the-art technology to alert motorists of approaching bicyclists and pedestrians. Delmarva Power recently finished repaving the two mile section of the Markell Trail between Ferry Cutoff and Boulden Boulevard north of New Castle. Like most cyclists, we have a bit of a weakness for brand new pavement, so we are looking forward to riding this smooooooth ribbon of black asphalt goodness.
On June 17th, Rep. Larry Mitchell‘s bill to make Delaware’s safe yielding law permanent passed the Delaware House of Representatives. Unanimously. We’ve still got to get through the Delaware Senate, but this is another win for safer cycling in Delaware.
