There is only one “gold” bicycle-friendly community on the United States east coast

GoldThe League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) program provides a roadmap to improve conditions for bicycling and guidance about how to make a better, more bikeable community a reality.

As a part of the program every year the League also rates (and therefore compares) communities all over the United States in terms of how bicycle-friendly these communities are. In Delaware, the League has recognized two of our communities – Newark and Lewes – as “bronze”-ranked communities.

Across the entire United States, the League has recognized only 21 communities as either “gold” or the even higher ranking of “platinum” (17 of the former and 4 of the latter). But, remarkably, up and down the entire east coast of the United States, only a single community has achieved a gold ranking.

A bunch of people over at Facebook are trying to guess what is the most bicycle-friendly community on the U.S. east coast. Do you have a guess? If you have a Facebook account, you can add your own (no cheating!):

***  GUESS HERE! ***

UPDATE: Ron MacArthur nailed it.
